Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Frisco, NC – “Tying the Knot: A Hatteras Island Wedding” is a fifteen-minute documentary showcasing the process of planning and executing a wedding on Hatteras Island.  In collaboration with Charter Media, Joe Thompson, President of Spa Koru, created the concept to stage a wedding using all Outer Banks businesses to promote destination weddings on Hatteras Island, as well as draw more attention and tourism to the Outer Banks.  Major Sponsors to the show include:  Spa Koru, Hatteras Realty, Ocean Atlantic Rentals, The Inn on the Pamlico Sound, REAL Kiteboarding, and Miss Hatteras Charter Cruises.  The documentary was filmed April 28-30 throughout the Outer Banks, with the final wedding scene being shot at “The Love Boat,” a premier sound-front event home offered by Hatteras Realty.   Additional Sponsors include: Reverend Tanya K. Young, Every Blooming Thing, Coyote Music, Brooke Mayo Photography, Great Cakes of the Outer Banks, GCP and Black Tie Affair Bridal Boutique.

“Hatteras Island is fast becoming a top location for destination weddings. With our warm weather, laid-back lifestyle, pristine beaches and abundance of event homes, Hatteras offers an affordable escape to brides and grooms looking to get away and make their wedding a special celebration with family and friends,” said Jessica Epping, Marketing Director of Hatteras Realty.

“Tying the Knot: A Hatteras Island Wedding” will air throughout the Outer Banks on OBTV 12 from late May until December 2008.  To broaden the reach of the film and promote weddings beyond the state, the show will be mass produced onto DVDs and distributed and mailed to people looking into getting married at the beach.

“Destination weddings are one of the fastest growing segments of the wedding industry.  Hatteras Island is just a day’s drive for over 40 million Americans.  With Cape Hatteras possessing some of America’s finest beaches and natural beauty in such abundance, Hatteras island is destined to become the chosen beach wedding destination on the East Coast.” stated Joe Thompson.
